Valley, the Canadian indie pop sensation hailing from Toronto, delivered a masterstroke with their sophomore album, “Lost In Translation.” Nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the 2020 Juno Awards and subsequently earning another nomination for Group of the Year in 2022, Valley has solidified its status as a rising force in the music industry

The title track, “Lost In Translation,” launches with a prismatic wall of sound, featuring arpeggiating keys, lush synths, and reverb-laden vocals. This track embodies a unique fullness that evokes emotions before you even decipher why – a standout and a personal favorite.

“Throwback Tears” takes us through a punchy pop progression, weaving an infectiously rhythmic soundscape. The dissonant notes in the keyboard chords add a heart-wrenching touch, capturing the essence of overcoming heartbreak while still mourning the loss.

“Natural” follows suit as a melodic standout, showcasing Rob Laska’s vocal range. The song flows effortlessly, exuding a chill, unrushed vibe with a hint of sultriness. “Break For You” complements this with an invitation to vulnerability, layering in a driving drumbeat that adds a determined, hopeful pace to the ballad.

Then the 3 subsequent tracks feel like scenes playing in a coming-of-age movie ( which would be amazing) .

“Have A Good Summer” expresses the ache of wishing someone the best while longing for their presence. Followed by “Good But Not Together” merges acoustic introspection with electronic twinges of nostalgia, and then “Evenings & Weekends” serves as a reminder of self-worth, featuring a captivating bridge.

I thought I could fly” definitely explores the silhouette of giving up from a distance, a tender yet relatable topic. This song seamlessly transitions into “Either Way, I’m Going Your Way,” which offering a hopeful reprise with pop perkiness and reflective musings.

“I Haven’t Seen You In Forever,” “Big Jet Plane,” and “Fishbowl” become the best post-party anthems, blending indie-pop bounce with a hint of melancholy ( which is impressive! )

On the other hand, “We Don’t Need Malibu” takes the top spot on a giddy summer situationship playlist, radiating acoustic ease and anticipation ( another favourite off the album )

So In conclusion, ‘Loss in Translation’ by Valley is a musical masterpiece that captures the essence of a generation. With its diverse soundscapes, emotional depth, and innovative pop elements, this album cements

In my opinion Valley is a band that you definitely watch. Each track off the album is a testament to their artistry, making it a must-listen for anyone seeking a fresh and soul-stirring musical experience or a new band to listen to
