Fakeshark, the Canadian Alternative band hailing from Vancouver, has never been one to shy away from experimenting with their sound. With their latest track, “Exactly What I Thought You Were,” they continue to push the boundaries of their musical prowess. The band lineup, consisting of the charismatic lead singer Kevvy Mental, along with Louis Wu, Alexander Glassford, Tony Dallas, and Jake Fox, is a testament to the eclectic blend of talent that defines their music, they present a high-energy anthem that delves into the intricacies of trusting one’s instincts in relationships.

So to begin Exactly What I Thought You Were” is definitely a strikingly upbeat composition that wastes no time in grabbing the listener’s attention. And Right from the first chord, you’re propelled into a world of energetic melodies and catchy rhythms. The song’s lyrical theme revolves around that all-too-familiar feeling of regret – the moment when you realize you should have trusted your instincts about someone that you know

And One of the most remarkable aspects of this track is its relentless energy. Fakeshark has allways masterfully crafted a musical journey that mirrors the emotional rollercoaster of second-guessing oneself. Kevvy Mental’s distinctive vocals provide the perfect vehicle for conveying the emotional intensity of the lyrics. His ability to infuse raw emotion into every word is nothing short of captivating .

And also not to forget The instrumentation on “Exactly What I Thought You Were” is a testament to the band’s evolution. Fakeshark has seriously come a long way since their earlier work, and this song showcases their growth and maturity as musicians. The blend of guitars, bass, and drums is seamless, creating a sonic landscape that perfectly complements the song’s theme

Reflecting on their journey, it’s incredible to see how far Fakeshark has come since I first became a fan when I was in grade 8 . Their musical evolution is apparent in this track, which showcases a more mature and refined sound compared to their earlier work. It’s evident that they’ve honed their craft over the years, and it’s paying off.

But I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia when I think about their performance at Iceberg Alley in 2018, a show I regretfully missed due to my underage status at the time. And Teaming up with The Glorious Sons and Jill Porter for that event must have been a memorable experience for all who attended. It’s a testament to their talent and growing reputation within the industry I really hope they come back here for a show

Not to mention that their songs have been featured in tv shows such as love island , catfish , letterkenny, and not to mention even an Apple commercial !

So In conclusion, “Exactly What I Thought You Were” is a testament to Fakeshark’s enduring creativity and musical prowess. This song is not just a testament to their journey but also a testament to their growth as artists. It’s a must-listen for both long-time fans like myself and newcomers to their music. Fakeshark continues to prove their worth in the Canadian alternative music scene, and I eagerly anticipate what they have in store for us next
