Glory – the fourth studio album by The Glorious Sons

The Glorious Sons, the two-time JUNO Award-winning rock band hailing from Kingston, Ontario, have once again graced us with their musical prowess in their fourth studio album, “Glory.” This 10-track album is a journey through diverse musical landscapes, each song is a gem in its own right.

1: glory

Kicking things off as the title track, “Glory” introduces us to the album with a drum-machine-like rhythm that hints at pop influences. However, the song retains a folk spirit and boasts the remarkable vocals of Brett Emmons, infused with a rock touch. It’s an all-encompassing track that even incorporates a choir-like segment at the bridge, setting the stage for the musical adventure ahead.

2: Mercy Mercy:

Mercy Mercy” takes the spotlight as the first among the four singles already released before the album. It seamlessly combines gentle strumming with the energy of a rock anthem. This track stands out as a personal favorite of mine and it’s showcasing the band’s versatility and emotional depth.

3: Cellular

The energy keeps flowing in “Cellular,” with a strong rock attitude that places a significant focus on the guitars. It’s a delightful departure from the previous tracks, highlighting the band’s ability to switch gears and explore various sonic landscapes.

4: dream

Dream strikes a balance between melody and harmony, with steady drumming providing a swift undercurrent. This track is both heartwarming and emotionally resonant, capable of evoking tears from its listeners.

House Lights” emerges as a poignant power ballad. Brett Emmons’ unique vocal delivery adds a beautiful touch, and the song’s storytelling is both engaging and emotionally charged. It’s a song that may require a tissue or two

6: Speed of Light:

Speed of Light maintains a melodic thread, it introduces a folk-rock character with indie undertones. The infectious chorus is the standout element, making it a memorable track

7: lighting bolt

This song, not to be confused with a previous hit, exudes Americana vibes and promises a rollicking time during the North America Tour. As one of the last single releases on the album, it stands as one of the best.

8: You Stay Young

With a modern vibe, “You Stay Young” continues the album’s captivating journey. Its anthemic chorus leaves a lasting impression, making it a standout track amidst the album’s bold sound

9: Time Will Reign Down on Me

Time Will Reign Down on Me” introduces a slower, intense, and dramatic element to the album. It’s not a ballad but an emotionally charged piece that showcases the band’s depth and versatility

10:cosmic beam

The Glorious Sons save the longest for last with “Cosmic Beam.” This final five-minute track merges the band’s signature elements into a captivating crescendo. While it may test some boundaries in its middle part, it remains a satisfying conclusion.

So In conclusion, “Glory” is an engaging and immersive listening experience. The Glorious Sons maintain their warm and inviting sound throughout, making it a truly lovely addition to their discography. This album showcases their evolution as a band while staying true to their roots, solidifying their position as one of Canada’s musical treasures.
